
Rangers defeat Tyler Junior College to open 2023 season
The No. 5 Kilgore College Rangers football team lived up to its high preseason national ranking with a 49-35 victory Sept. 26 over the Tyler Junior College Apaches in both teams' season-openers on Earl Campbell Field at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium in Tyler.
Kilgore was in the driver's seat all night, never giving up the lead, in a game that produced almost 1,000 yards of offense.
KC ended up with 511 total yards of offense with QB Cameron Peters (6'4 SO, Houston) passing for 385 yards (4 touchdowns) and rushing for 2 touchdowns.
Wide receiver Chris Marshall (6'3 WR, Missouri City) -- who transferred over the summer from the University of Mississippi -- was named the KTBB Player of the Game.
He had six catches for 160 yards and two touchdowns.
Kaden Meredith, of Longview, led all rushers with 75 yards and a touchdown.
