
Rangers win sixth-straight game, Lady Rangers defeated by Panola with big second half rally
KILGORE, TX -- The Kilgore College men's basketball team improved its winning streak to six games with a 75-72 win against the Paris Junior College Dragons -- while the Lady Rangers gave up a 24-point lead in the second half to lose to Panola College in overtime, 97-94.
KC MEN 75, PARIS 72
KC's Jamil Muttilib led all scorers with 33 points, knocking down 7-of-11 from beyond the arc. He actually scored KC's first 17 points of the game to ignite the Ranger charge against the Dragons.
Peter Mckey was also in double figures scoring with 21 points. Willie Williams added nine points.
Paris had four players in double scoring figures with Damondre McKnight (17), and 14 points each by Caleb Jones, Kordrick Turner and Oluwafemi Olaniyan. Turner earned a double-double by also grabbing 12 rebounds.
The KC men (20-6, 10-5) are in 3rd place in the R14 North Division, just behind Panola and Trinity Valley.
They will play Tyler Junior College 7 p.m. at home on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
PANOLA 97, LADY RANGERS 94 (OT)
The Panola College Fillies trailed by as many as 24 points in the second half to the Lady Rangers, but the Fillies were relentless, making up the deficit to send the game into overtime.
The Fillies won the additional 5-minute overtime period, 16-13, to earn the three-point victory -- 97-94.
KC's Brykayla Hampton led all scorers with 29 points. Nyla Inmon was also in double figures for KC with 21 points, earning a double-double by adding 12 rebounds.
Panola had five players in double figures with Tre'anah Coppock (22), Destinee Moore (18), Awa Fane (16), Ja'Nae Southall (16) and Nakaylyn Wells (10).
KC drops to 15-10 (8-3) and has a bye Wednesday. They will travel on Saturday, Feb. 24, to play Paris.
