Rangers, Lady Rangers knock off highly ranked Trinity Valley teams

The Rangers and Lady Rangers pulled off monumental wins Jan. 31 against Trinity Valley Community College with the Lady Rangers defeating the No. 8 Cardinals, 74-70, in Athens -- and the men knocking off a No 7-ranked Cardinal squad in Kilgore, 99-83.

Both wins loom large for the KC basketball programs.  The Lady Rangers' victory ended in a grand celebration, as it was the women's first win against TVCC since 2019 under then head coach Addie Lees.

The Lady Rangers (12-8, 5-1) were paced by Nakiyah Allen with 23 points and 14 rebounds. Jordan Wright added 12 points and Nyla Inmon scored 14.

In the men's game, Jamil Muttilib was on fire, scoring a season-high 42 points, nailing 5-of-7 from beyond the arc.

Peter Mckey scored 21 points while KC Udolisa scored 12 off the bench. Willie Williams led the team in rebounding with 11.

The KC men improve to 16-6 overall and 6-5 in conference under first-year head coach Robert Byrd.
