
Lady Rangers knock off No. 22 Blinn College on the road
BRENHAM, TX --For the second time this week, the Lady Rangers have knocked off a top-25 nationally ranked opponent. On Wednesday, Jan. 31, the KC women defeated Trinity Valley (ranked No. 8 in the NJCAA). The victim today was Blinn College in Brenham with an exciting 75-74 victory over the Lady Buccaneers (ranked No. 22).
KC trailed Blinn by 8 at the half, 40-32, but gained momentum in the second half, leading by as many as six points.
With 18 seconds left in the contest, BryKayla Hampton stole a pass from Blinn and completed an uncontested layup to put the Lady Rangers ahead 73-72.
On Blinn's next possession, KC's Perina Lieme fouled Blinn's Wynter Jones to put her at the free throw line. Wynter made both charity shots to put Blinn back ahead 74-73.
With seven seconds left, KC inbounded the ball and Hampton passed the ball to an open Tylissa Henderson who scored on a contested layup to put KC ahead, 75-74.
With three seconds left, Blinn had a layup attempt, but it was no good -- preseving the KC victory.
The Lady Rangers had four players in double figures with Jordan Wright leading the way tiwh 17 points.
Lieme and Hampton both scored 13, Nakiyah Allen scored 12 points.
KC improves to 13-8 (6-1) while Blinn drops to 15-6 (5-2), putting the Lady Rangers in second place in R14 behind Angelina College.
The Lady Rangers will host Angelina College on Wednesday.
